Intellectual Property Asshole Competition
So in this world of the law is only there for my convince and I will put shit loads of money in to lawyers to make an example of you (Like the scum bags in Hollywood) this man has a challenge that I could not resist promoting. Read up on it and check the links. -Lorne

Who is the bigger intellectual property asshole? Is it the artist who has amassed a small fortune based on "appropriation" yet still sends cease and desist letters to other artists for appropriating his work?
Or is it the largest (and only) US based nationally-oriented news service which fails to recognize "fair use" even when it literally stares them in the face?
I have created hand painted canvases of Shepard Fairy's Obama Hope poster, and Mannie Garcia's Associated Press photograph and put them for sale on my website here and here.
.... stay tuned for updates on the winner.
(For those unfamiliar with the Shepard Fairey / Associated Press intellectual property battle over the Obama Hope poster, here is a good place to start.)

I get this, but fail to see the problem, Homeboy copied someone else's photo for his painting...
Really you steal someone's work you stand the chance of getting sued, and then to turn around and cry because someone else is stealing your art is a bit...hypocitical?
I really do not care though, I think those OBEY geeks are a bunch of fucking hacks anyway!

It is more the point of The AP photographer took the picture and protects his intellectual property quite vigorously and the Hack painter just ripped it off then does the same intellectual property protection B.S.
Just a sort of poke in the eye.
