    Day 25, and going nuts

The 25th day out here finds me at the hotel with nothing to do and a sense of insecurity about what I will be doing when I return to Los Angeles.
This witness thing is a royal pain in the ass. Why I decided to do it in the first place must have been partly drug induced from the surgery in my mouth just prior to taking this on.
I am a fucking sucker for coming out here for what I am being paid. Dam the company spirit, there had better be some thing to make this sacrafice worth my while.
On a positive side, have not smoked in over a month now and my hands have started to regain some of there previous steadyness required for delicate work.

Home bearing 274 degrees and 2381.96 miles

Sunday finds me spending most of the time taking refuge from the humidity in my hotel room.
Here is some thing to reflect on, Home is bearing 274 degrees and 2381.96 miles away from me.
I wonder if I get to charge milage? $952.78 a day at a very resonable rate of 20 cents a mile?
    Just kidding.
Not much on the idiot box this week end, outside of the Sci-Fi Channel line up on friday that was sort of neat.
Wishing I had brought a computer with me, tracking heat numbers and the sort would be vastly more simple with a computer.
Another week end shot to heck.

The boss returns to Los Angeles

Thursday in the morning finds me on the road to Philadelphia to drop my boss off at the airport for his return flight to Los Angeles. Then it was off to Lehigh Testing Labs to check on the status of the tests.
Looks like baring any big problems I should be onthe road back to Los Angeles on the 26th.
I am almost starting to geet used to this place. This morning I was successful in finding a movie theater, so now I will have some thing to do on the week end, providing that there is no testing going on.
So tomorow I need to call and prolong my stay at the hotel, call to keep the car longer and call to have my flight pushed ahead. Wonder what all this is going to do to my cell phone bill, I am calling Los Angeles at least once a day for work.
Time for more shut eye, got to go.

    Room Temperature Woes

Monday, after a quick visit to the lab in the morning and again after lunch the CVN (steel test) tests left over from friday got started at about 4 pm.
Keeping the temperature at room temperature seemed simple enough, but the use of a iron bar as a heat sync to keep the grain alcohol used too cool the sample at the appropriate temperature turned out to be the best way to keep it from being too cool.
O.k. so it turns out that there are actually areas in Newcastle that are more ghetto than the industrial area I find myself in.
This weekend I might travel to the college town of Newark to see the night life.
It is a work night and my internal clock is shot to heck, so I need to clean up and get some shut eye.
    Till next time, be good.

Day 6 Sunday finds me out for a little drive and some exploration. I found the Dupont house and museum, took some pictures and shot some video on the way in. Should be up on the web soon.
Boredom holds me firm in it's grasp. Getting more studying done out of theAISC ASD.
I am starting to think that I might have lost sight of my vision of the bug and that it is time to get another car for work and either fish or cut bait on the old VeeDub.
Interesting what a couple of thousand miles can do to ones perspective.

Day two finds me on stand by time from 07:00 to 19:00, 12 hours, too bad I cant charge for it. just sitting in my hotel room all day with out my phone ringing until after 18:00.
Burr's birthday is today, need to get him some thing while I am here, don't know what yet though.
And for a little bit of good news I am finaly able to eat hard foods with little discmfort, recovering from my recent surgeory in my mouth. Oh joy.
It's close to 22:30 Eastern Standard Time and getting close to time for me to turn in. Will try to update this blog regularly while I am in Delaware.
    Good night now.
It has been a couple days now in Delaware, rained on my first day and been mostly cloudy ever sense.
Had a meeting with the lab and mill I am working with.
Geting bored, reading code books in my hotel room and watching the history channel and clasic movies.
looking forward to geting back to a normal field job.

The way a fillet weld should not look. Can you say ugly.
By the look of it you might suspect that I was giving lessons on driving. Willing to bet that I have driven longer, harder, and faster than all of them back in my professional driving days for General Motors.
One of the last pictures of me taken at the LAC-USC Replacement Hospital Project. Can't say that I feel bad about leaving even though there were some really cool people. FUCK IT, I'll catch them on another job.
Went to a bbq with a bunch of co workers annd former co workers yesterday, kind of strange how much like family we had become. The VW is running strong with the exception of the alternator making noise because of a bearing in the rear as well as finding that my speedo is probably about 4 miles an hour fast. Hummm might need to replace that.
Still have some packing and preparations for my trip out East.
