    Wide angle of LA Live

The corner of Figueroa and Olympic looking at the LA Live complex.
Just off the the right one of the store owners offered us pizza if we would go and photograph his shop.

Noy at the ready with his trusty cannon

    Pull my finger.

    Renta 'a' Cop

This fine example of rent 'a' cop gave me a hard time about using my tripod. Fine, I can follow rules... But the speed of the D300 got his attention as I shot off 12 shots in about 2 seconds... Ha ha ha... What? Can't take pictures in a tourist magnet now?

    a bright night shot

As the sun sets on the city

54 story tower from the Staples Center

    Floats..

Here if you look at the top of the iron building you can see three little rectangles hanging off the side. They are floats, a plywood plank with steel angle reinforcing the perimeter and tied to the iron with hemp rope. This is where the welder stands when welding on the outside of the building, and where the inspector must go to inspect said welds.

You aren't afraid of heights are you?

    54 story tower

This is the 54 story Ritz Carlton Condo tower in the LA Live Complex, the steel is being erected by Herrick which is one of the best and biggest steel fabrication and erection companies in California. place looks to be come a project community, where the occupants will not have to leave the center for any of there needs.

    Neat iron though.

    Cowboy Up

10 shots of 45 caliber 230 grain full metal jacket at 8 yards or about 7.3 meters on a NRA 25 yard target.
Shooting a little low, but the grouping is really good, the first three shots were in an inch and a half grouping down in the number 8 ring just above the group of six in the 7 ring. and my final shot after seeing that I was getting lower brought up and got about one and a half inches away from center at 02:30... Not bad for the first target of the day.

    A new panorama

Have you ever tried to upload a picture larger than 21 megs before? out right shockingly hard. But then again who in there right mind would look at a 22 megabyte picture in the first place.

    The Hunters of Riverpark

A clear and cold day after an arctic storm swept across Southern California the hunters were out and so were the crows, fighting with the hawks and driving them away.

    After the rain

After driving 150 miles / 241.4 kilometers I make it home. Might sound like a small task but given that the average Los Angeles driver has a hard time driving when the world is not pissing on them and lord help them if they have to roll up the windows, hang up the phone and stop text messaging each other and drive . I did see about six accidents along the freeway and only one slightly flooded intersection, in other words a mild rain.
In the words I saw on a hard hat...

    Christmas Lights

While experimenting with taking pictures of Christmas lights I came a cross a VW bug in nice shape. All image processing has been done in the camera, nothing on the computer.

After looking this picture over I realize that my Sigma 17-35 F2.8 on a monopod still is not stable enough, it does not sport image stabilization, that is why I was using the Original Image Stabilization, the monopod.

My next outing I think that I will try my Nikon 50mm F1.8 prime and my Tamron 18-270. Both on the monopod.

    HaHa

    The game is afoot

    Two Cat's

After a slight delay, a little bit of normalcy returns to the tea house.

    Brothers

To capture us in any available light a tripod was used and the Christmas lights were put to good effect.

    The lights of 300

Yes, I think that it is getting close to that time of year again and the neighborhood becomes festooned with holiday decorations and merriment for one cold month culminating with the opening of presents on Christmas day.
